Wicked

My apartment overlooks a daycare- winter isn't a big deal - the kids aren't outside much - but summer - OMG- it is so loud- why do kids feel the need to scream at the top of their little but oh so powerful lungs? It's not like they are just being loud and having fun - these are high pitched, shrill kill your eardrums for no real reason kind of screams. Warning Warning a bear is coming to eat me kind of scream. This daycare really is squashing any maternal urges I have. Smashing the batteries right out of my biological clock.

Lately these children have been making me think of Hansel and Gretal. I have always felt sympathy for the witch. I mean here she is sitting around in her house- when some bratty kids come and start eating her house. I mean --How would you feel if some brats started eating your drywall? I'd be awfully tempted to bake them up. G says it is an example of bad design- I mean you make your house edible and someone will come along and eat it. Some would say the witch lured the children by building her house of candy. Who knows? Maybe where the witch is from candy isn't something you eat, but rather a building material.

Dave being the nice guy he is said he would paint it with that stuff you put on your fingernails to make them taste bad- he is such a nice guy- sorry Dave lol- (I have used this- the problem is you don't taste it immediately-you've already taken a bite- the first time I was convinced I had been poisoned- as I walked home from a friends house whose mom had painted my fingers with this stuff-I thought all about when I would collapse and which snowbank I would die in- What can I say? I was a melodramatic child)

I recently ordered the book "Wicked- The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West"- Love the idea- The Wizard of Oz told from the point of view of the witch. I loved The Red Tent and The Other Boleyn Girl - same idea. G has pointed out on many occasions my fondness for villains - I should be cheering the hero on and I find myself drawn to the Darth Vader instead. Villains are more interesting then heros in a lot of cases. Something tells me that Elphaba(wicked witch) is going to be way more interesting then Dorothy
