Nurse/Doctor Animosity

This is old news now, but I still can't talk about it without getting angry. The University of Alberta medical school put on a Medshow. This is also known as Beer and Skits in other places and schools. Anyway it is always pretty controversial and raunchy but this years? Downright nasty. I sent off a couple of letters as part of this campaign and from what I read now future medshows have been cancelled and a few apologies made.

Those nurses- we just can't take a joke. I can't imagine any other profession getting upset at being "whores" and "bitches" whose "incompetence" threatened to "make patients die." GEE but they did say we were good at filling up their coffeepots and giving good head and they were interested in seeing our boobs. Can't imagine anyone getting upset over that, can you? The animosity between doctors and nurses is growing. No question about it.

I think the part that shocks me the most is not the fact that it happened at all, but the reaction of the people in power. You know that they wish this would all go away, they don't want to punish the students in question, that they are "good kids" The boys will be boys attitude. Granted I believe the medical school is made up of something like 60% female students. doctors will be doctors, I suppose.
